I can't believe i missed Kingray100 getting muted, darn

f

I must apologize to everyone again fpr being so sporatic. I'm stuck in home town politics, and may be going down to South Carolina to help the Much embattled John Edwards Camp.

He's the on;y canidate who has the experience and who has not taken one cent from a Corporation, unlike Obama and Clinton.

Quote: Well, many people like to say (I'm pretty sure some in this group included) that it is possible to be religious and still be a scientist (or follow science). However, I disagree because they are logically inconsistent ways of thinking.

Going the Sam Harris route? Hmm i struggle to decide whether they are fully incompatible, all I am quite sure of is that if Atheists become to dogmatic or ideological then were not much better then a religion.

Quote by marfish14Thats a cool idea. Ill take part

Thanks marfish!

No i didn't even see an original post, oceansoul must have applied today.

f

Quote by kingray100well to start off,im surprised nobody has opposed my side on how I feel about the whole muslim enterprise of Islam....Guess I must have a firm stand in this type of debate...anyway...

I think somebody is getting away with murder here.

Quote by Toya999well, my apologies for not introducing myself in the first place ^_^'
well, that's all i can say for now. :)
my apologies if the explanation was still too brief...even worse nonsense? ummm... ^_^'

Don't apologize, glad that you introduced yourself! I can understand wanting to keep some of your feeling and thoughts personal and thats not a problem.

The explanation was not too brief and was not nonsense.

If you have any questions or comments just speak your mind!

Quote: Muhammed was a nobody who seemed confused and neutral about his religion...but he clearly states that he liked the ideas of the Judiasm and Christianity.Afterwards,(my theory),he kept balancing these two religions he liked so much, probably studying them at least a little, and coming to the conclusion....

yeah, my teacher told that, too. he keep saying that islam isnt rite n has different theory with christian, bcoz Muhammad is like ehm,.. made a religion, inspired with those ideas-i forgot wut ideas.

Regurgitation anyone?

f

Quote by DarkRoseofHellkingray is preaching in PM form -.-, thats... annoying...

He's What?

Quote: We could put the charter of human rights up if you want to. But that would be pretty long; not good for those lazy people because they'd be rolling down for a while XD Someone can pick out the important ones though. Then I could put them up on the group page, by text or banner like images.

I'm happy you like the layout ^^

I agree with you the full charter would be too much, I'll compile a short list and a short description of each and send it to you by PM.

So how has everyone been? Anything new?

f

Quote by ProgramZEROWhat are some of the issues being tackled in this here analysis?

Get ready this is going to be one long post, and no offense to anyone here who is religious.

Well to start off I decided it would be much more prudent to tackle the issue of religion(and Only the Religions of Abraham IE Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) and not the issue of the existence of a god. However the main focus shall be Christianity.

I will in order, describe each religions separate beliefs and influences on the world today. (For Example Turkey is an Example of a Moderate Islamic State and Saudi Arabia is an Example of a Extremist Islamic State).

After Introducing the Religions at hand i will pose the question are these religions a necessity? And then state the answer no and give proof.

I will deal with common rebuttals such as
"religion creates moral order"
"Art and media would not be beautiful without religion"
Pascals wager
"there would be no meaning without religion"

After the previous step, i shall write about the Abrahamic Religions misdeeds to the world. I will be using references, facts and quotes.

These will be the main talking points

Religion Incites Violence
Social Evolution Prevention
Economic and Scientific Growth Prevention

Last but not least I will introduce the Alternatives to Religion including Non-Theisitic religion(Buddhism), Deism, and The Spectrum of Atheism. I call it a spectrum because it includes everything from a free thinker to an agnostic to an ignostic.

This is a rougher version of what my actual revised outline looks like.

f

This freaks me out... this guy is the republicans lead choice for president.

f

I love the layout.

Also i think we could make list of some important human and civil rights, it might be a good way to define the specifics of our club.

What do others think?

f

Well for irony you can get Microsoft Office X or other versions with your Mac.

PS. This is a Great debate between a Rabbi and a bestselling Atheist/Spiritualist Author.

Quote by kaisui1tatsuHmm, I think that when spring comes around, we each could take a commement to plant something, and during the growth process we could share the pictures with each other. What do you guys think?

I love this idea. Personally since i was recently nominated and then elected by my cities Tree and Beautification board to be chairman, we love to see the plants grow.

Keep in mind when you get the plant make sure it is a native species to your area, or state, if you plan on platting a tree i can give detailed information on how too(trees are much harder to plant then bushes and such).

We should do a group announcement on this but first I'll wait for at least two more responses.

f

Ha, HA, HA Darkrose! I may have been gone for a long time but i do have viable reasons. And i am the Club founder you know, and i did revive it and reorganize it once before .

But how is everyone doing? How about the New members tell me a little bit about themselves.

f

Well Mac.... unless your a hardcore gamer on the PC(due to the fact Mac's don't really support many games. But really they are amazing against viruses'. Have amazing graphics and you tend to get lots of bonuses. So for me a mac is better, though we also have a new PC now too.

On another note I'm writing an analysis on religion and god on my free time, it's going to be a four step book/report.(though it's just for my own intellectual stimulation). So if anyone has any good website suggestions for references or if anyone wants themselves quoted in this little "book" of mine just go ahead and tell me .

I already have multiple reference books.

A history of God
The Holy Bible
The Koran
The God Delusion
The Quotable Atheist
The Portable Atheist
Buddhism Inspirations

f

I'm back, explanations posted elsewhere.

Did everyone here about Benizir Buhttos assination?

f

I'm back, explantion in short....

1.Computer died(RIP you piece of dell junk)

2. Senior year of high school (enough said.)

3. and did i mention my computer died.

f

I've been gone for a long time now, if you want an explantion just go to the MT-Athiests page i dropped on there.

f

Deja Vu,

I know i've been gone for approximatly three months but that is due to what is known as a broken computer, a filled appointment book and a senior year in high school. I recived a mac computer for christmas so now i'm free to type away.

and on another note, i was not fighting normal ninjas just fighting republican evangelical anti environmental ninjas.

Quote by marfish14The U.S. and China are the biggest contributers to global warming, so we should start buckle down on them first. Thank god George Bush cant get back into office after his term. At least we know you guys'll be voting for someone competent.

I wouldn't count on that. Republicans still have half the vote, so it's going to be another close election,.

Other things!

sorry i haven't been around everyone i've been quite swamped with schoolwork, and such but i'm back.

Interesting thing i found out after buying a funimation product, they now are using recycled materials to reduce their carbon footprint.

f

Well it's been a while since I've been on MT.

So has anyone here seen or read th play Waiting for Godot?
